if your lighting is falling flat, you're not alonE.
One of the first things you taught me was to pay attention to light around me in my daily life.
Even though this seems obvious now, I wasn't doing it at the time. And this led me to think about how I could recreate the same lighting effects in my filmmaking, to create specific moods or effects.
In fact, every single filmmaker who sticks with it has some major hero's journey related to lighting. We all start out completely confused by lighting and struggle to create films that are cohesive and visually arresting. For many filmmakers and video creators it takes YEARS to learn how to light. But good news: you can do it much faster.
after years of trial and error, I created a system that allowed me to create better lighting and better films without breaking the bank on gear.

"A fresh take on the subject"
Your 5 tips to lighting was a fresh take on the subject. I've seen the 3-point lighting setup as the 'standard' go-to when starting out. However, some of your other tips, such as the 'butterfly light' aren't something I usually see. So, I like that you're approaching it from a different perspective and not just a canned, regurgitated one. Thanks!

Love the way you approach talking about filmmaking from your own personal experiences & use them as a teaching tool.

"Simple and powerful advice"
Your piece on the use of shadows in lighting a scene was one of the most simple and powerful pieces of advice I’ve read about filmmaking. I’m already looking at films I watch with different eyes. Such a gem piece of info!

This course was a real confidence booster for me personally. I feel confident in my ability to tell stories and feel I’m on a good path to learn more about this process, and to become more technically capable in film production and editing.
Having a few finished films I can now show people has already led to some interesting projects people are proposing… volunteer so far, but that is a good start. Before the summer I was all talk and no show!
Your course is very well thought out and it is obvious you have put a lot of time, creative thinking, and content development into making it effective for learners. Your skill at giving feedback is outstanding…I work in HR and I think you could offer courses in that skill as well!
I really appreciated your responsiveness to my many questions, and how you added new content to the course along the way if something new emerged that would be helpful to me and others.
You have a real gift for coaching emerging filmmakers like myself and I would highly recommend your program to anyone looking to start (or improve) their solo filmmaking capabilities. I’m so thankful I found you on the internet and am very appreciative of all your help, guidance, and encouragement over the past several months!

This is the very first time this course has been offered in this way. You'll be the first ever student to go through this course which is why there's so much additional coaching and training. This course won't be offered like this again for this price. So I recommend joining this time round if you're keen on improving your lighting skillset, making films that attract an audience, and getting mentorship and coaching along the way.
